What to Wear to Stay Cosy Indoors

When the temperature gets cooler, your home can also feel cold at times. We take a look at what to wear to keep you cosy at home in the cold weather. If you find you often feel cold when sitting in your home, you can use these tips.

Layers

The temperature of your home might fluctuate, and you can be very cold one moment and warm the next when the heating kicks in or you spend time sitting by the fire. Although it's easy to get changed in your own home, it can also be annoying if you need to change your outfit several times a day. Layers can help with this issue; a basic bottom layer that’s short sleeves and comfortable is perfect for when you get a little warm. You can then add a cosy jumper, socks and an extra bottom layer if it's particularly cold in your home.

Socks and slippers

Walking around barefoot on wooden or tiled floors is bound to make you colder, especially if you have poor circulation. Poor circulation in the body can lead to a cold feeling, leaving your whole body feeling cold and uncomfortable. Choose a warm thick pair of socks in the winter to keep your feet warm. Combine these socks with some high-quality slippers you can wear around your house. Hard-bottom slippers are great if you need to pop outside, they’re also longer-lasting and provide additional support for your feet. Covering up your feet makes you feel instantly warmer and more comfortable when your home gets a bit chilly. You’ll also reduce the risk of treading on something sharp and hurting yourself.

Loungewear

Loungewear are items of clothing that are made to keep you warm and comfortable in your home. Loungewear is often made from soft, warm, and stretchy materials; it's perfect for when you’re planning to stay home for the day and enjoy relaxing on your sofa, watching films or reading your favourite book. Loungewear became more popular during the Covid-19 pandemic when people were told to stay at home and work from home if possible. This popularity has continued in recent years as more people regularly work from home and enjoy being comfortable when relaxing in their homes.

Blankets

Getting under a blanket on the sofa will keep you extra warm and cosy. It can also relieve stress after a long day of hard work or activities. A cashmere blanket is a perfect choice for those looking for a luxurious experience when relaxing at home. Cashmere is incredibly warm and soft without being too bulky. So even when you’re not using your cashmere blanket, you can display it on your sofa, which will add to your home's aesthetics. Other popular materials include wool, fleece and velvet; these materials have great qualities that will keep your body warm and cosy indoors during cold weather. If you want to go one step further, you can purchase an electric blanket you can plug into a plug socket. These blankets warm up and stay warm for several hours at a time, be careful though you might not want to leave the comfort of your warm blanket once you get used to the heat.

Blanket hoodies

Another popular item that will keep you warm in your home is a blanket hoodie. This clothing item is made to fit your body and be extra large for added comfort. The material used for a blanket hoodie is similar to that of a standard blanket. So if you get up from the sofa, you can take your warmth with you wherever you go in your home.

When you’re cold in your home, choose layers of clothing items with insulating properties. Loungewear is great for keeping your body warm and comfortable. It can also be stylish if you want to ensure you still look great when you’re in your home. A blanket is also a must-have item for keeping cosy and relaxing in the evening. Cashmere is a great choice of material as it has excellent insulation properties and is extremely soft and comfortable. Alternatively, a blanket hoodie is a fun addition to a blanket you can wear to keep you warm.
